Heidi offers birth, postpartum, and lactation counseling doula services. She will help you better understand complex medical systems, advocate for yourself, and navigate your birth and postpartum journey with courage. Having trained with Birthing Advocacy, a Black-owned, queer-run organization that centers anti-oppression and reproductive justice for all people, Heidi approaches birth work through an affirming and trauma-informed lens. She will provide unbiased information and support so you can make decisions that make sense for you and your family, and tap into the grit and grace needed to birth, nurture, and raise a human being. Heidi has also experienced the transformative power of becoming a parent, and will help you access your parenting intuition in the postpartum period, coordinate logistical support from your village, troubleshoot infant feeding and sleeping, and maximize your rest and recovery. She will help you move past survival mode to embrace the fourth trimester as an opportunity to focus on healing your body, tending to your mental health, nurturing your baby, and laughing at the ridiculously steep learning curve (cliff?!) of caring for a newborn.

Heidi is a former Peace Corps Volunteer (South Africa), a single parent by choice, and an amateur seamstress.

  • "In a moment of doubt during pushing I remember saying, ‘I can’t do this,’ and Heidi firmly and lovingly said, “You already are.” That’s something I’ll take with me into motherhood as well.”

  • "Heidi guided my family on how to best support me in my recovery and gaining confidence as I developed my parenting sea legs. Her care allowed me to prioritize my healing and my mental health was greatly protected by all her support."

  • "It was such a pleasure to have Heidi as our doula. As a first-time mother-to-be, I felt cared for and reassured. Heidi was very quick to respond to all my questions, she would check in often to see how I was feeling during my pregnancy. She supported me in my birth preferences, giving me lots of practical advice. Heidi’s presence and her good energy were very calming during my labor, while her massage helped a lot with all the intense sensations I was going through.”
