Luna

Growing up, Luna’s godmother was a midwife who worked for legislative change regarding birth choice in her state, and her mother was a prenatal massage therapist/labor doula. After witnessing her sister’s journey through NYU’s midwifery program many years later, Luna was inspired to embark on her own odyssey as a labor and birth doula. She is now a DONA-certified doula, serving clients throughout the boroughs.

Luna has a background in writing, journalism, illustration, and research—all skills that rely on communication and interpersonal sensitivity. Her work has always been aided by her ability to listen, understand, and center the stories and needs of others. She strives to be a strong, empathetic, and client-centered communicator.

As an athlete from a young age, Luna understands the process of physically and emotionally preparing for a major event, caring for one’s body, and coaching from both sides of the “field.” She has been coached and knows how to coach—when to push someone, when to encourage them, and when to support rest.

Luna offers warm, grounded, evidence-based support. She doesn't think there is any "right" way to birth and she looks forward to elevating your voice and preferences as you embark on this journey.

  • "From the beginning, Luna was the soul of calm: gentle, inquisitive and deeply nonjudgmental as she asked my birthing partner and me (nonbirthing) about our preferences. When my partner went into labor, Luna was there to help support us, physically and emotionally. During early labor she fostered a calm and supportive atmosphere and as labor progressed she helped my partner remain comfortable, with massage and exercises that regularized her contractions. She was wonderful at the hospital, too, comforting both of us as we navigated a really tricky bureaucracy. I would strongly, strongly recommend her to anyone considering hiring a doula — and even to anyone who is not."
