Narchi is currently offering lactation consulting services through her practice at
Lactation Health NYC

Narcisa Jovic (Narchi), co-founder of NYC Birth Village, is a veteran doula, childbirth educator, IBCLC and mother of three children, living on the UWS. She came to US from Romania as a young adult in 2000. Since 2001 when her first child was born, she has been passionate about bettering herself as a parent, a journey that will continue throughout her whole life. Narchi has researched numerous parenting books and philosophies ranging from infancy through teenage years, and connected with and learned from hundreds of parents in the past 2 decades. She loves to bring the wisdom of life and work experience in guiding new parents through this adventurous journey of raising a child.

During the lactation consulting sessions Narchi provides hands-on support with latching, breastfeeding positions, troubleshooting of various lactation challenges, as well as guidance on bottle-feeding, pumping, and establishing an appropriate feeding plan. She loves to provide knowledge on newborn behaviors, emotional support for parents, and explore helpful feeding, soothing, and sleep strategies.

Having a foundation of guidance and support in the immediate postpartum time can encourage new parents to trust their instincts and instills confidence that can be essential throughout what Narchi likes to call “the labor of life.”

  • "I cannot stress this enough, having Narchi to help with my initial transition to motherhood - ESPECIALLY LACTATION SUPPORT - was so necessary and smooth. The transition was almost easy with her there to guide both our baby and me. We had minimal issues with breastfeeding and I was able to avoid the common initial pain points (latching, pain, etc.) with her guidance."

  • "I highly recommend Narchi as a postpartum doula. She was a great support for me and my baby during the difficult 6-8 week period. Narchi has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on, and I really appreciated her proactive attitude when I was at a loss of what to do. I felt like she understood my baby so well, and I had complete confidence in her. In addition to helping me understand practical aspects of baby care, she also helped me process the huge variety of postpartum emotions that come along with a new child. On top of everything else, she is a very, very talented cook! I felt well nourished in so many ways during our time with Narchi."

  • "Narchi came to our house a few hours a week to help after the birth of our daughter. She was such a tremendous help and a gift to have in our home. She's calm, reassuring, very knowledgeable on all things newborn, and always giving the best advice. She showed us many newborn tricks, helped a lot with first times (bath etc.) and with breastfeeding. We can't recommend her enough!!"

  • "Not only did Narchi spend a lot of time at home with us - helping us get a good latch, showing us swaddling techniques etc. - but she also kept checking-in on us the following days. She helped me troubleshoot and de-dramatize the breastfeeding process. Ryan and I can't imagine going through this experience without Karla & Narchi and cannot recommend them highly enough."

  • "She made herself fully available postpartum as I was having a LOT of issues with breastfeeding for weeks. It's like having a sister. I owe her a lot. Worth every penny. And more!"

  • "Narchi has an amazingly calm and kind energy and is able to deeply hold one’s values, intentions, fears, and aspirations for birth. During our pre-labor consultations, Narchi provided helpful resources, including natural comfort techniques, exercises, as well as information on nutrition and general pre-labor health. She was able to take theoretical concepts and apply it to examples from her personal and professional experiences. Narchi’s wisdom, kindness, giving nature, birthing skills and professional knowledge make her amazing birth partner- she is fully and deeply engaged with the mission of her profession and we would highly recommend her services to anyone."

  • "She listened to me, cooked for me, held my baby so I could catch a little rest. She never judged, gave me useful tips, made me laugh and let me cry. And she gave our daughter her first bottle of breastmilk :-). I highly recommend her. She's extraordinarily positive, sensitive and knows her job perfectly. She remains a dear friend for us."

  • "Partnering with Narci was an essential part of my preparation for my VBAC for several reasons. First, her personal experience with VBACs served as a constant reminder that it is possible to give birth vaginally after a c-section. Knowing that she did it gave me strength and confidence. Second, her clinical knowledge was invaluable to my husband and me. It helped us better understand the clinical significance of prenatal tests, which enabled us to make educated decisions regarding my prenatal care. Not only did Narci answer our questions in great detail, she also encouraged us to do our research and educate ourselves, which empowered us. "

  • "I interviewed many doulas before I finally found the one that I felt safe and comfortable with. Narchi is the best doula I could ask for. She is kind, warm and extremely professional and knowledgeable . She is supportive and very attentive- she listens to you but she is also naturally very intuitive. Her help with breastfeeding during postpartum visits was absolutely invaluable. We had two lactation consultants but it was her advice and experience that helped me figure out the low milk supply issue I had. I cannot praise Narchi high enough!"
