  • "Although we had planned that Selena would help me with pain management and relaxation through changing positions and movement, Selena ended up watching the monitors and helping me breathe through contractions that coincided with decelerations in the baby’s heart rate. With her soothing but strong voice in my ear, I was able to push through and maintain calm for myself and the baby! In the end, I was able to have a vaginal delivery instead of a C-section because the baby was eased by that rhythmic breathing. Selena also helped encourage skin-to-skin as soon as possible since the baby needed to be looked over by the pediatric team immediately after birth. She helped me attempt to breastfeed during the skin-to-skin time, which gave us a great start with nursing from the very beginning. Selena also took a huge number of photos and videos (at our request), which we are very grateful to have! During the postpartum home visits, we just hung out and chatted with Selena while she held the baby, giving me a most-welcome break! She also continued to provide advice and information on good burping techniques, childcare options, infant CPR classes, and more.”

  • “We hired Selena to be our doula and we could not be happier with our decision. She was a constant source of support throughout pregnancy, labor, and beyond. She was knowledgeable about nutrition during pregnancy as well as comfort measures during the last trimester and labor. When I was in labor, Selena was by my side the entire time even during the most difficult moments. After my epidural, she helped me shift positions in bed to aid the baby in coming down my birth canal. She was a wonderful advocate and I think that she helped me successfully achieve a vaginal delivery. Moreover, Selena has an extensive network of other professionals in the birthing community should you seek other kinds of support (chiropractic care, placenta encapsulation, lactation support, etc.). Selena is also bilingual and bicultural, and can be a great resource for Latina moms navigating their pregnancy and labor. Finally, Selena’s empathy, patience, and calm demeanor made for an extremely reassuring presence throughout the entire process! ¡Muchas gracias Selena!.”

  • Selena was the BIGGEST help during my pregnancy and after. I’m not one to ask for much help, I usually try to figure things out myself. But from the very first email I was given loads of PDFs, links, videos to watch and so much useful advice and resources. She took time to get to know me, my family, and what my needs were. I was planning on having a home birth and she gave me all the necessary information to get myself prepared, she even helped me find a midwife before becoming my doula!! But when my son decided he was ready to come into the world at just 35 weeks, she was totally prepared for my hospital birth. Selena was such a comfort to have at my birth. She made me feel safe. As weird as it may sound, I felt like I had my mom in the room taking care of me, standing up for me and giving me the confidence I needed to give birth to my baby. Selena was also a HUGE help to my mother preparing for my postpartum and thanks to Selena had recipes and a long list of remedies to make postpartum healing easier for me. Postpartum she checked up on me constantly, gave me delicious homemade lactation cookies!! and was a listening ear when I didn’t realize I needed it so much. I would recommend Selena to everyone, but especially to my latina friends. She understood me so much because we came from the same place and that was not only comforting but incredibly helpful when trying to find options that suited my budget and my family. My mother loved her because she felt so familiar to us and not just someone we’re paying to do a “service.” She went above and beyond for me and my family. If I ever become pregnant again I would 100% want Selena by my side.”

  • "Having Selena as our doula was easily one of the best birthing decisions we made! She was so incredibly knowledgeable, as well as genuine, and so easy to connect with. The postpartum meetings were particularly helpful for us as first time parents — especially at the hospital when learning to breastfeed. I have so many good things to share about my experience, I would highly recommend Selena without any hesitation!"

  • "Selena is an absolute angel on this earth. I can not thank her enough for all the amazing emotional and educational support she gave me through my pregnancy and labor. She helped me advocate for myself at the hospital and have an amazing birthing experience. Any family who gets to work with her is blessed."
